Experience

After completing my MA in Counseling Psychology at North Park University, I have accumulated experience working with clients at a variety of local community mental health settings. I have worked with children, teens, adults, and families, struggling with anxiety, depression and family concerns that interfered with the quality of their lives. My clients originate from a variety of cultural backgrounds, which has enriched my understanding and ability to relate to a diverse array of people. Along the way, I continue to notice that the commonality of human struggle and resilience far exceed the differences. At the same time, I value the ability to learn from each individual and carefully consider their backgrounds as we collaboratively embark on our therapeutic journeys.

My goal is to foster a process of introspection that is creative and affirming. Through this process your unique approach to the world will emerge, bringing your values and aspirations into sharper relief. Areas of focus include early experiences, today’s pressures, and the ways we experience each other during therapy.

Introspection and insight are promoted by exploring the origins of our most familiar ideas, feelings, and habits. Surface issues and personality features often express the unresolved wishes and frustrations of our past. Some of these inform and express what’s unique about us, while others get us stuck in anxiety, conflict, and sadness. The lessons we learn from experience can be both adaptive and limiting. What works on one level doesn’t always work on

Clinical Approach

"Compassionate listening offers an opportunity for the client to process their emotions and deepen their awareness of thoughts, emotions and patterns leading to enduring change and transformation."

Holding up a mirror for a client to see themselves with a positive lens provides clarity and model’s compassion. This environment offers a rich opportunity for self-compassion to inform the process of internal change as well as enhancement of interpersonal relationships.
